Did you know that “STEM” education is not just about science, technology, engineering and mathematics? It applies to all content areas and all grade levels and is an effective way to promote research-based instructional methods across your campus or district.
The Statewide STEM series is a foundational set of courses designed by the Texas Education Agency to illustrate what STEM education means in the state of Texas. Both courses showcase engineering design, computational thinking and problem/project-based learning using a hands-on approach. The leadership version is 2 days and includes support for dreaming, designing, implementing and sustaining campus-, district- or organization-wide STEM programming aligned to the Texas STEM Education Framework. The educator version is 3 days and includes support for designing an interdisciplinary, TEKS-aligned learning experience for students.

3-Day Statewide STEM for Educators
Who is this for?
This 3-day training is designed to prepare educators for successful implementation of STEM instruction in their classroom or out-of-school setting by immersing them directly in the role of STEM learner. Participants will make connections between the Texas STEM framework, STEM fluency skills, and contemporary workforce demands, and begin the work of embedding these STEM strategies into what matters most - their daily work with students. This training is designed for all grade levels and all academic content areas and includes a 351-page participant guide.
What is this training about?
This is the TEA’s official teacher/educator training around the Texas STEM Education Framework and the free STEM Toolkit resources the TEA has developed. The training immerses participants in hands-on PBL, design-based challenges and computational thinking to illustrate the TEA vision of STEM education: using STEM pedagogies to support high-quality TEKS-aligned instruction across all content areas and all grade levels, while helping students build important life and career skills.
Isn’t this just another thing our educators don’t have the bandwidth to do?
Nope! You are most likely already doing (or trying to do) things that “count” as components of STEM education. A thorough understanding of the TEA vision for STEM education will help you identify/acknowledge these existing practices and provide additional “why?” for the practices you are still aspiring to make happen. Plus, when you have the time, energy, resources and interest to go further, the STEM Framework and STEM Toolkit resources will give you concrete next steps for development.
Bonus! TEALearn Badge
Participants who complete this 3-day workshop will receive a Badgr Credential from TEALearn, issued by the TEA Texas EcosySTEM!
